A successful brand can expand its business internationally in a number of ways. It can appoint wholesale distributors to be responsible for regional or national territories, servicing retail accounts within those territories. It can appoint a franchise partner to set up its own sales points, whether stand-alone stores created in the image of the brand’s own stores at home, department store concessions, pop-up shops or others. It can appoint partners combining these features.

Brands also need to decide how they want to appear in the online marketplace and on social media outside of their home market. Will the brand want to retain ownership of this environment or put it in the hands of a local partner?
