Andrev is an English-law-qualified solicitor. Andrev provides comprehensive commercial advice to his client base with an emphasis on providing realistic and practical solutions whenever possible.
He has effectively served as in-house counsel to the firm’s largest client for the past five years, while also acting for a number of the firm’s other clients. In this capacity he has drafted, negotiated and advised on the full spectrum of commercial contracts, including distribution, licensing, agency, service provider and supplier contracts. He has assisted this client in resolving a number of disputes with third parties by negotiating favourable settlements without incurring excessive litigation costs. He has also provided extensive support and advice on legal issues surrounding marketing and advertising, including the management of legally compliant customer festivals, competitions and sales promotions.
Andrev has also developed significant experience in the areas of data protection and privacy, specifically with the GDPR, helping his clients navigate through this challenging and constantly evolving area of law. He has provided training to his client base in this area and also in competition and anti-bribery laws. His other major area of expertise is in the field of intellectual property – specifically copyright law and trademark portfolio management. Andrev routinely negotiates copyright and usage rights on behalf of one of his clients in the creative services industry, often with third parties of considerable commercial strength and influence.
Andrev graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University in Canada where he earned his B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy. He earned his LLB in Law from the College of Law. He has also had significant experience in the public and not-for-profit sectors, having worked for both the Government of Canada and the Toronto International Film Festival.
